9:30am – 11am (please arrive 5 minutes early)

Meeting Place:

Corner of High Street and Wyllys Avenue, Middletown (GPS: use 281 High Street, Middletown)

A prime location for early industry, Middletown, Connecticut was home to some of the nation’s earliest and largest arms manufacturers, including Nathan Starr and Simeon North. Their early-19th-century mansions were located on Middletown’s historic High Street and are now part of Wesleyan University’s campus.

Join us for a walking tour of historic High Street. Tour guides will be Jesse Nasta, Wesleyan professor and Executive Director of the Middlesex County Historical Society, Deborah Shapiro, and Alain Munkittrick. Shapiro and Munkittrick co-authored High Street and Wesleyan University, richly illustrated with rare historic photographs. Copies of their book will be available for sale.

$10 per person. All proceeds benefit the Middlesex County Historical Society. To reserve your spot by credit or debit card, please click here:
